Meaning of Property Tax
Property Tax is a tax imposed on every rateable holding within the jurisdiction of the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) under the authority provided by the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171).
How Property Tax is Calculated
Your Property Tax is calculated based on the Rateable Value and the Tax Rate.
Rateable Value is based on the market value of your property (the value of the land including buildings, if any) at a certain valuation level approved by the State Government.
The rateable value currently used is based on the market value as of the year 2020.
The Tax Rate is the percentage imposed on the value of your property as the Property Tax payable.
