Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB) telah menerima 4 Anugerah di MIP Planning Excellence Awards 2024 yang disempurnakan oleh YAB Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Perdana Menteri Malaysia.
4 Anugerah yang diterima ialah:
1. Gold Award kategori Strategic Planning Award (Local Level) bagi projek Tebrau Riverescue.
2. Silver Award kategori Low Carbon Award (Community & Lifestyle) bagi projek JB Low Carbon Lifestyle.
3. Bronze Award kategori Smart City Award (City Wide IOC - Command Centre) bagi projek Johor Bahru Integrated Operations Command Centre.
4. Special Mention kategory Smart City Award (City Wide IOC - Command Centre) bagi projek Urban Observatory@GeoJB.
Dalam ucapan perasmian beliau, YAB Perdana Menteri Malaysia berkata bahawa pembangunan sesebuah bandar raya perlu mempunyai identiti dan keunikannya tersendiri yang dikenali sebagai corak Malaysia.
"I need to reiterate this point precisely because we tend to ignore the fact, that a vibrant city must be technologically sound, modern with modern architecture, but the same time culturally vibrant. By culturally vibrant means that you must ensure that the indigenous uniqueness, cultural aspects is being infuse in the entire planning of the city," kata beliau.
Syabas dan tahniah diucapkan kepada semua pihak yang menjayakan inisiatif ini. Semoga usaha membudayakan elemen bandar pintar, kehijauan, kebersihan dan kelestarian di bandar raya ini terus subur untuk manfaat setiap warga bandar raya.
